Nationals

National Bank Notes were issued by several thousand National Banks throughout the United States, and are widely collected today.

The Minnesota collectors are a determined group.  Several individuals over the years have sought to obtain notes from each of the 434 banks that issued notes.  Past and current collectors of the state include Mort & Richard Melamed, Bill Higgins, Jr. (now The Higgins Museum of National Bank Notes), Fred Lucas, Marco Biondich, Gilmore Sem, and the Minnesota Historical Society.

Others have sought to concentrate on certain regions of the state, which appeal to their hometown interests.  Presented here is a collection of a small portion of the state, representing East-Central Minnesota National Bank Notes, assembled by Shawn Hewitt.
