Will of Richard Whitehurst, executed 29 Jan 1765, proved ?
In the Name of God Amen. This Twenty Ninth Day of Januaary 1765 -- I Richard Whitehurst of Onslow County, Planter, being Sick and weak in Body; but of a Disposing mind & Memory. And Calling to mind the Mortality of the One; & the Resurrection of the Other. do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament (Vizt) Principally I recommend my Soul to the Hand of God who gave it and my Body to be decently Buried. &c. And as to my Worldly Goods I give and Dispose in the following Manner ---
Item I give and Bequeath to my Son John Whithurst one Bed and Furniture all my Wearing Apparel after my Decease
Item I give and Bequeath to my Son Richard Whitehurst One Negro Named Buy, Two Cows, Two three year old Heifers. One Two Year Old [steer?] Two yearlings, One Sow & Six piggs. four yearling Hoggs. One Chest of Drawers. One Bed and Furniture. One Case with ye Bottles. One Iron pott - with all my Pewter. And Coopers Tools and all other Plantation Tools --
Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Mary Six Head of Sheep
Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Margaret one Large Iron Pott. Also one Mare and Colt to be Recd from Mr. Jno King -- & Some Small Earthen Ware
Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Rachel Hadnot One Young Horse --
I hereby revoke all and
every othe former Will by me made Confirming this to be my Last Will &
Testament ---
And I do hereby Appoint my Loving Son Richard Whitehurst and my Friend Willm
Cray to be Executors of this my last Will & Testament In Witness whereof I
