Will of Mary Pitts, executed 1800 [no month or day], proved April Term 1801

State of North Carolina, Onslow Co.

In the Name of God Amen. I Mary Pitts of Said State and County being in good health of body and good mind and memory but mindful of Mortality and desirous so to settle my affairs that after my deceased my children and Grand Children may be at peace do make and ordain this my last Will and testament in manner and form following (that is to Say) Chief of all I do recommend my Soul [tear] the hand of Almighty God my maker and Jesus Christ my redeemer, and my body to the ground to be buried in Such decent and Christ like Manner as to my Executors shall deem meet hoping to receive the Same again at the General resurection at the last day. and for Such worldly goods as it has pleased almighty God to bless me with after my Just and [legal?] debts, and necessary expence being first paid & satisfied [&/I?] do make an inventory of my whole estate as it stands this day and annexed the [same?] to this my Will on the Same Sheet of paper and my desire is that Such part of my estate as cannot be conveniently divided, as hereafter mentioned in my inventory should be all fairly valued by three good and lawfull men of said county appointed by an [_____ _____] of said county court for that particular purpose.

Item It is my will and desire that the {residue?] of my property be equally divided among my children and grand children as [______] by me expressed

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Hewit one negro woman named Easter, as also one negro girl named Millie, to her daughter Desire Mitchell to them and their heirs for Ever

Item I give and bequeath unto Pamala Hinson daughter of Jenne Scott (now deceased) her Mother -- or make more plainly expressed lent to her, and to the heirs of her body a full Share of all my Estate Say one fourth part of all both real and personal.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Granddaughter [Allifain Carmalt?] and to her heirs -- one Cow and Calf. In full consideration of all I mean to give her.

Item give and bequeath unto my Son Rigdon Pitts one full Share, or one fourth part of all my estate both real and personal to him and his heirs for Ever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandsons Peter, Richard & Pitts Oldfield, Sons of my daughter Mary Oldfield decd, three fourths of a full share of my estate to them and their heirs &c.

Item I Give and bequeath unto my great grand child Mary Fulsher, daughter of my Grand daughter Mary Sarah Fulsher, one fourth part of a full share of my Estate both real and personal to her and her heirs for Ever.

Item It is my request that my Granddaughter Pamala Hinson have as her Sole right -- one hundred Silver Dollars. that Robert Carmall owes me from the money Judgement against Allen Backhouse and received by Adam Scott as constable

Item It is my will and desire that all the remainder part of my estate, real or personal Should be divided, Share and Share alike as above [___ discharged?] and Expressed as has not yet been divided or given away.

Item It is my request that my Son Rigdon Pitts shall have my negro woman Roda, at her valuation, in the division with the other legatees.

Item I constitute and appoint my Son Rigdon Pitts, John Hewit, & Pitts Oldfield Executors to this my last Will and testament revoking all other Will or Wills by me made at any time heretofore.

In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand and fixed my Seal in the ear of our Lord one thousand eight Hundred.

2 notes of hand for lent money 20 Dollars to Rigdon Pitts

1 do In the hand of Rigdon Pitts agst John Burnap for £10

1 ditto against Wm. Ferrand for 20 £ or upwards in the hand of Rigdon Pitts to collect

One hundred Dollars lent myself to Robert Carmalt which he received of Adam Scott out of my Judgement against Allan Backhouse for £50 part pay of negro Stack.
