Sale of the Estate of John Hewitt, 28 Oct 1809

The total of the two pages listing items sold does not equal the total amount sold reported in the undated estate account. Of the items sold on 28 Oct 1809, the widow Nancy Hewit purchased several spinning wheels and a loom, household furniture, a plow, and misc. farm tools. She must have been a weaver. Rigdon Hewit purchased farm tools, coopers tools, and a few pieces of household furnishings.

Estate of John Hewitt

In 1812 the administrator (Rigdon) filed an expense report -- labeled "Settlement of the Estate of John Hewitt" -- with the court totaling £ 179.14.1

A 2nd page lists the following:

By amount of Acct Sales & debts Collected £ 579.8.6

Less administrator's expense (above) £ 179.14.1

Balance due the Estate £ 399.14.5

Agreeable to an order of Court to us directed to settle the Estate of John Hewitt dec'd with Rigdon Hewitt Admr., & after Examining his Acct Vouchers &c we find a Balance due said Estate of Three Hundred & Ninety Nine Pounds fourteen Shillings & five Pence. In Testimony whereof we have here unto set our hands this 11th day of Apr 1812. s/s Will [Heller?], Will Jones


Guardians accts & bonds - Rigdon Hewitt appointed guardian to Dempsey Hewitt 12 Jan 1813, with bond of 300 pounds secured by Rigdon Pitts and Isaac Grant. Also guardian to John Hewitt.
