May Term 1835, Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions, Onslow Co.
The Petition of Elsey Huett respectfully sheweth unto your worships that she is the widow of John Huett who died, intestate in this county in October 1834. That her said husband died seized and possessed of a tract of land in this County of about thirty acres with a dwelling house on the same, lying on the East side of Mitchell Swamp adjoining the land of John Morton, David Ketchum and Luke Huggins, when the said John lived prior to his death, & that she is advised she is entitled to dower in the same agreeable to the Acts of Assembly in such case made & provided. She therefore prays your worships that copies of this petition may be served upon the heirs at law of the said John, her deceased husbnad & subpoenas calling on them to shew cause wherefore dower may not be allotted to her as prayed for -- And she is in duty bound &c
