Willet had apparently died by July 1798 when Nancy Hewitt gave power-of-attorney in her own right (no husband listed) along with Rigdon Pitts and wife (both his wives were Watson) and several others for recovery of property theirs as heirs to "our brother" Jeremiah Watson or Nichodemus Watson, both dec'd. Her will, written in 1807, mentions only the Williamson children by her first marriage.

Fisher claims that Nancy Watson was a wife to Rigdon, so he apparently did not see the marriage bond of Willet and Nancy Williamson dated 1798. Jean Gillet has pointed out that a married woman of this era had no legal power to act on her own behalf. Rigdon was likely married by early 1798, so she would not have been able to take the legal action she did as mentioned above in July 1798. Furthermore, she would not have been able to write her own will in 1807 since Rigdon was alive at this time. Prudence Simmons, daughter of Elizabeth Watson, was Rigdon's wife.
