To my wife Agnes, all my estate real and personal for her lifetime; To son
James, one large Bible and a pair of brass headed hand irons; daughter Eleanor
Baily, my small dwelling house, the cellar excepted, and one acre of land
adjoining, for her lifetime or widowhood and she not to rent, lease or
otherwise dispose of said property; to son Elisha, a negro man and woman slave
after my wife's death; To son Abraham, 100 acres on south side of Trent River
including house and plantation whereon I now live and 100 acres adjoining
this, ten acres on west side of river being part of tract patented to Nehemiah
Randal. This bequest is only for the lifetime of my son Abraham, and at his
death to go to his son, Alexander Blackshear; Abraham to receive any other
goods after the death of my wife. To son Elisha, after my wife's death, and
until his son is twenty one year old, 82 acres on south side of Trent River
patented by John Wallis. All this to go to Jacob, son of my son Elisha, when
he is twenty one and when my wife is dead. To daughter Eleanor Baily, Sarah
Clifton and granddaughter Susannah Fordham, all household goods at the death
of my wife; Eleanor Baily to receive five pounds yearly support as l;ong as
widow. To granddaughter Susannah Fordham, a slave, but if she die without
heirs then to my granddaughter Mary Clifton. Executors: my son Elisha
Blackshear and friend Nathan Bryan. Witness: Fredrick Harget, John H. Bryan,
and Benjamin Pickren.
