The Edward Hewitt in Stewart Co., GA in 1850 who matches the deed on Rigdon's estate is age 38, b. NC, farmer, $600 real estate. Wife Sarah, 46, b. NC. Children Edward (18), Sarah (17), Malissa (14), Trudy? (9), Drucilla (7), Jno (5) and Will (3) are all listed as b. in GA which would mean that Edward moved to GA between 1830 and 1832.
Caleb S. in Onslow Co. census of 1850, age 30, w/ wife Louisa and children Nancy (9), Elijah (6), Mary E. (6), Ann Mariah (4) and John (2). Caleb S. Hewitt, son of John Hewitt Sr. and brother of John C. Hewitt, is married to Louisa, dau of Rigdon Hewitt.
In 1850 there is also a "Goldsmith" Hewitt in Onslow Co. who is age 50 (b.c. 1800) with wife Margaret. He is one or two generations after the Goldsmith who was the son of Thomas H.
